The Florida Panthers recalled 22 year-old Colby Robak from AHL San Antonio on Saturday; he leads all Rampage defensemen in points with 19 and shots with 82.
Alex Kovalev would get a chance to suit up against the Pens and had some jump. He's still not playing the best defensive hockey but there's no question he plays better when he's had some rest.
Erik Gudbranson looks like the most consistent Florida defenseman outside of maybe Dmitry Kulikov. Gudbranson is hitting everything in sight, and hitting hard, something you're not seeing from the rest of the defensive group on each one of their shifts. Not only is he playing the physical role well, he's not making mistakes very often (if at all) and that's given the blue line some serious stability.

According to the Miami Herald, the Florida Panthers will start Jose Theodore in goal Thursday against the Philadelphia Flyers, with Scott Clemmensen serving as the backup.
Top prospect Jacob Markstrom, called up from the AmericanHockey League on Wednesday, will be a healthy scratch, but the newspaper reported he is expected to play Friday, when the Panthers play at thePittsburgh Penguins.
The Herald also is reporting forward Alex Kovalev will be a healthy scratch Thursday.
"Every time I come to Florida, I look at it as an opportunity,'' said Markstrom, who has stopped 92 percent of his shots and recorded three shutouts at San Antonio.
"I just love coming here, everything about it. We have a great team here. Hopefully I get to be a part of it.''
The Florida Panthers can make NHL history Monday night, but they want no part of it.
The Panthers will enter their home game against the Toronto Maple Leafs having lost their last three in overtime, tying a record previously done eight times.
Florida joined Nashville (2010-11) as the only teams to ever lose three straight in overtime with all three games at home.
Even more painful for the Panthers is the fact they squandered 5-3 third-period leads Tuesday against Washington and Saturday against Tampa Bay, when the Lightning tied the game with 10.4 seconds remaining in regulation.
The Florida Panthers have recalled center Mike Santorelli from San Antonio of the American Hockey League.
Santorelli began the season with the Panthers and had no points in three games. He also was a healthy scratch three times in the team's first six games before being loaned to San Antonio on Jan. 30.
In seven games with the Rampage, Santorelli had two goals and three assists and a plus-2 rating.
The Panthers face the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night and it's uncertain whether Santorelli will be in the lineup. Florida had 12 forwards at its morning skate.
The line combination of Shawn Matthias and Jack Skille with center Marcel Goc did some damage against the Lightning.
Matthias scored his second goal in the past three games and Skille had a number of chances and cashed in when he took a nice feed from Matthias to beat Anders Lindback.
"We're trying to find some balance in the lineup,'' Dineen said.
Said Skille: "It felt great. Goc and Shawn played really well, played a lot in the offensive zone. Our line got scored on though, right away. As a team we have to play smart and not on our heels.''
